Terms of Use
Last updated 1 October 2026
These terms apply to using Monk Apnea, the free breath-hold training app at apnea.robmonk.ca (the "app"). By tapping Accept & continue in the app, or using it, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. Safety
You agree to follow the safety rules, including training dry only, seated or lying down, and never in or near water. You train at your own risk. Breath-hold training can cause blackouts and other harm, especially if the safety rules are not followed.
2. Not medical advice
The app is a training timer. It is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. Tables, suggestions, heart-rate figures and analysis are for general training only and may be wrong. Talk to a doctor before training if you have any health condition.
3. Anonymous training data
Each session you do in the app is shared as an anonymous record, as described in the Privacy Policy. Sharing these records is a condition of using the app. They contain no name, email, account or device information, nothing links one record to another, and they cannot be traced back to you. Because they can't be traced back to anyone, they can't be withdrawn or deleted later. They are used to study how people train and progress and to improve the app, for example to build virtual coaching.
4. Accounts
An account is optional. If you sign in, your own data is saved online so it can be backed up and synced between your devices. You can sign out or delete your account at any time in the app (Account). Keep access to the Google account or email address you sign in with.
5. Free, as is
The app is free and provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. It may change, have errors, lose data, or stop being available. Keep your own backups (History → Save backup) of anything you care about.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the developer of Monk Apnea is not liable for any injury, loss or damage arising from using or being unable to use the app, including from breath-hold training, inaccurate figures or lost data.
7. Fair use
Don't misuse the app or its online services, for example by sending false data in bulk or trying to access other people's accounts.
8. Changes
These terms may be updated. If the changes matter, the app will ask you to accept them again.
